In Greek mythology, the Ophiotaurus was a creature with the upper body of a bull and the lower body of a serpent. It was said to possess the power to bind and unbind all oaths and was therefore highly prized by both the Titans and the Olympian gods.
According to the myth, the Ophiotaurus was guarded by the giant Campe, who was killed by the hero Heracles during his twelve labors. Heracles then used the Ophiotaurus to free the god Prometheus from his chains.
It is said that if one could capture and sacrifice the Ophiotaurus, they would gain the power to overthrow the gods. Because of this, the Ophiotaurus was often hunted by ambitious mortals and deities.
In some versions of the myth, it is also speculated that the Ophiotaurus was involved in the creation of the cosmos, and that its body represented the union of heaven, earth, and the underworld.
